Live. From my Android phone!

Curiosity got the better of me  and I finally got myself an Android phone.   I have not been this excited about a device in a long time.  One thing that has me particularly jazzed is the new Swype  input system which fully leverages the touch keyboard.

Think of it as running your fingers over a piano’s keys without actually pressing them.  The melody plays by guessing your intent.  It works surprisingly well, as long as you can play/spell!  I composed this on a Samsung Galaxy 3 in the back seat of a rickety cab in Mumbai – hitherto thought to be impossible without a real QWERTY keyboard as found on my trusted Blackberry Curve 8520 (my other device).

I know that the iPhone is great and that the Blackberry works email like a dream but for do-it-yourself-types the droid is way more open.   Between the slick OS, the new input system, fast processor on the G3 and the incredible Apps from the Android Market,  I have two crackberry-weary thumbs way up for the Android revolution.

    I believe G3 has Android 2.1

Android 2.2 will take you on a different experience specially for do-it-yourself types.

The absolutely easy to setup hotspot and tethering functionality in Android 2.2 is a big hit.
